Embarking on a Journey: The Grace for Eden

This is the painting where it all started for me. It was the first painting I had ever done. I had no clue what I was doing with it. But I had a feeling, I had an instinct, I had a handful of things that I had drawn up. I knew that I wanted to paint them, but I didn't really know what I was doing. I tried some stuff and it didn't really work. I lined out things in a way that didn't really make sense and made it actually harder to paint. I learned a lot about what not to do. I knew that I had an end result that I wanted to reach so I just started putting color on canvas. I knew I wanted to texturize the painting to give it a 3D effect so that it wasn't just a flat painting with brush marks through it.

When you look at it, the lines aren't really perfectly straight, the colors are a little off, they're a little muted. It's kind of messy if you think about it. For my first painting, it's incredible and I'm really proud of it, but at the same time, looking back on it and how far I've come, I had no clue what I was doing. I had a vision in my head and I went for it and I got as close to it as I possibly could. It was a lot of learning and a lot of mistakes, but I did it. This is the beginning of the journey.
