 From Darkness to Light: The Transformative Journey of 'From End to Beginning'

This painting finds itself in the exact middle of the series. Tonally, it changes very, very drastically from the first half of the series. You have the Grace For Eden, Eyes Like Fire, and the Crown of Life, and there's kind of a flow there. The Grace for Eden is blue focused with some darker hues. Then it transitions to Eyes Like Fire, which is kind of this fiery orange and red with some blue in there. Next, we have The Crown of Life which is more of that fiery orange with the same kind of blue. Now we get to From End to Beginning, and it's very different. It's got a lot of darker colors. This piece serves as a transition piece because the number that this painting is based off of is a number that represents transformation, transition, and self-discovery. Sometimes self-discovery can be hard, having to look at the things that we don't know about ourselves, the darkness within us, and facing that head on. There's a lot of uncertainty there.

It also has the geometric shape for the Tree of Life that shows up in this one, which is a really fascinating concept to me. The Tree of Life comes from the Adam and Eve story. They had everything in the garden and they chose to eat from the Tree of Knowledge instead of the Tree of Life.

But in this series, you find the Tree of Life making an appearance here in geometric form. Which to me says that even in the darkest of times, there's hope, there's a light, there's life, and there's the beginnings of something new. Even in the hardest of times this is where true life starts to spring forth. It starts to grow and you see it illuminated in this painting. It’s a reminder to me that no matter how dark things get, there's always a light that comes and guides us. There's always a new beginning. The night always precedes the dawn. So this painting is a reminder to myself and it's a testimony of the journey that I've gone through personally of discovering light in dark places.
